Our events help support professional development and education as well as providing ample networking opportunities. It also enables trainees and medical students to learn more about our sub speciality and possible career options.

 

The educational aims of the Society include:

  • Support members by offering educational resources and networking
  • Provide a forum for discussion amongst Radiologists, Clinicians & AHP
  • Inspire Radiology trainees to subspecialise in Head & Neck Imaging
  • Champion the cause of education & training including curriculum development
  • Advocate evidenced based practice in Head & Neck Imaging

BSHNI Annual Meeting

The BSHNI annual meeting takes place over two days in the summer and is held in conjunction with the Radiology section of the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM).

It aims to provide a supportive and interactive educational forum with expert speakers, invited lecturers from overseas, group discussion with the opportunity to present interesting cases. Joint lectures by clinician/radiologist pairings are a popular feature of the meeting. The content, attendance and popularity of the meeting grows year on year. A distinguished international speaker is invited to give The Dr Peter Phelps Commemorative Lecture, which is now a centrepiece of the meeting. The annual general meeting of the society and more importantly, the BSHNI dinner is held in the RSM at the end of day one.

BSHNI Refresher Course

The BSHNI Refesher Course is an annual fixture which occurs each year in February at rotating venues within the UK. 

A one-day course providing a refresher in the imaging and investigation of head and neck pathology. The course aims to refresh and update knowledge in the common areas of practice for Sonographers, trainees and Consultant Radiologists of both speciality or general Head and Neck interest.
